அகழ்வாரைத் தாங்கும் நிலம்போலத் தம்மை
இகழ்வார்ப் பொறுத்தல் தலை
As earth bears up with diggers too
To bear revilers is prime virtue. 151
பொறுத்தல் இறப்பினை என்றும் அதனை
மறத்தல் அதனினும் நன்று
Forgive insults is a good habit
Better it is to forget it. 152
இன்மையுள் இன்மை விருந்தொரால் வன்மையுள்
வன்மை மடவார்ப் பொறை
Neglect the guest is dearth of dearth
To bear with fools is strength of strength. 153
நிறையுடமை நீங்காமை வேண்டின் பொறையுடைமை
போற்றி ஒழுகப் படும்
Practice of patient quality
Retains intact integrity. 154
ஒறுத்தாரை ஒன்றாக வையாரே வைப்பர்
பொறுத்தாரைப் பொன்போற் பொதிந்து
Vengeance is not in esteem held
Patience is praised as hidden gold. 155
ஒறுத்தார்க்கு ஒருநாளை இன்பம் பொறுத்தார்க்குப்
பொன்றுந் துணையும் புகழ்
Revenge accords but one day's joy
Patience carries its praise for aye. 156
திறனல்ல தற்பிறர் செய்யினும் நோநொந்து
அறனல்ல செய்யாமை நன்று
Though others cause you wanton pain
Grieve not; from unjust harm refrain. 157
மிகுதியான் மிக்கவை செய்தாரைத் தாந்தம்
தகுதியான் வென்று விடல்
By noble forbearance vanquish
The proud that have caused you anguish. 158
துறந்தாரின் தூய்மை உடையர் இறந்தார்வாய்
இன்னாச்சொல் நோற்கிற் பவர்
More than ascetics they are pure
Who bitter tongues meekly endure. 159
உண்ணாது நோற்பார் பெரியர் பிறர்சொல்லும்
இன்னாச்சொல் நோற்பாரின் பின்
Who fast are great to do penance
Greater are they who bear offence. 160
